Major League Soccer officials have concluded an investigation into unruly behaviour
This because of the seat cushions tossed onto the field during the first game that Toronto FC ever scored. I wonder how long their investigation lasted. It could not have been a very in depth investigation. Probably went something like this:
MLS Investigator: So what did you do after TFC scored their first goal?
TFC Fan: I tossed my seat cushion onto the field, like everyone else did. It was their first goal ever, are we just supposed to sit quietly on our hands?
MLS Investigator: I see
Toronto FC finally scored on Saturday and the crowd loved it. Then they gave up a goal which the crowd didn’t like so much. Then both Toronto FC and Chicago Fire had a man sent off with red cards. Toronto FC had lost Danny Dichio (their goal scorer) for aparently trying to bite Matt Pickens. Diego Gutierrez got involved and also got a red card. I don’t know how Matt Pickens came out of it un-booked, but he did and the game went on. Toronto FC went on to score 2 more goals to complete the 3-1 victory and the crowd love it. It was exciting to see part of Major League Soccer history on Saturday. It would have been better to be a TFC fan and be at the game.
Here is a fan video I found of the first TFC goal. It isn’t the best shot of the goal, but it captures the crowd reaction pretty well.
Toronto FC has far surpassed any other team in demand for jerseys and other team gear during their first season in the league. The demand for Toronto FC Adidas gear has been over quadrupled what Adidas initially predicted.
All of this from the only team that has not scored a goal yet this year. Good job Toronto fans, I hope you are rewarded with some goals and some wins soon!
Toronto FC’s BMO Field has announced that they will install FieldTurf in BMO field so that the field can be used 365 days a year. The New England Revolution also play on FieldTurf at Gilette Stadium.
A lot of big name European teams use FieldTurf for practice fields. My old high school now plays its home games on FieldTurf, and although I’ve never been on it myself I’ve heard that it is really nice, probably better than natural grass.
What do you think about a game field using artifical grass?
Well the score was impressive, that is really all I got out of the MLSnet.com match tracker.
After a very impressive season opening win in DC the Wizards dropped out of the US Open Cup to RSL and then went into Chicago and lost there. Tonite they came back strong with a 3 - 0 victory over very unimpressive thus far Toronto FC. I hope those Toronto fans are gonna stick with thier team through the bad as well as the good.
The Juice (Eddie Johnson) got back on the score sheet and now has equaled his goal tally from last season.
Richard Mulrooney is going back to his old team, Houston Dynamo. The Dyanmo sent defender Kevin Goldthwaite and a first round 2008 SuperDraft pick to Toronto FC for Mulrooney.
Mulrooney started his career with the club when they were in San Jose in 1999. He spent some time at FC Dallas before going to Toronto, and now to Houston.
Toronto FC is pretty popular, and they have not even played a regular season game yet. 14,000 season tickets sold for their newly constructed (under construction?) 20,000 seat stadium. That is pretty awesome for a new team such as Toronto FC considering 14,000 was the season ticket cap, so they sold out!
I don’t have the stats, but I wonder how many season tickets the other teams have sold. I’ll try to get ahold of those stats and post them here. I’d be surprised if anyone other than LA (post Beckham announcement) have sold this many season tickets.
I don’t understand what is goin on with Nate Jaqua. First the Fire let Torornt get their hands on him in the expansion draft, and then Toronto send him off to the Galaxy. I would think any MLS team would love to have Nate Jaqua starting up front for them. Am I just overrating him?
Joe Cannon and Nate Jaqua are gonna take the Galaxy back to the playoffs.
